Role Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, North America)

Pipe is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and ship cloud-based APIs and databases that power its capital products.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable backend services (primarily with Go and Python)
• Architect, optimize, and maintain relational database tables in PostgreSQL
• Lead technical projects end-to-end from concept through launch, ensuring quality and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers and engineers) to define requirements and implement solutions
• Perform thorough code reviews and champion engineering best practices

Required Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of backend software development experience
• Production experience with Go, Java, Python, or similar
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experience building and operating scalable APIs and services
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Working knowledge of tools like GitHub and VSCode (or similar)
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and distributed systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
