About the role
Role Overview
Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale Alpaca’s Payments & Treasury platform—modern, global systems and services responsible for money movement and treasury capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement solutions to achieve defined goals with significant autonomy
- Build and maintain a modern global payments and treasury platform using highly scalable, event-driven systems
- Contribute to defining goals and product/engineering direction for treasury expansion
- Develop high-quality microservices and client-facing APIs
- Ensure resilient system integrity, operational scalability, and technical scalability
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and help debug/anticipate issues
Requirements (Must-Haves)
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive mindset
- Excellent communication and collaboration; comfortable working independently and in a team
- Preference for simple and elegant solutions
- At least 3 years of experience working on systems at scale
- Proven experience building and maintaining microservices
- Experience with client-facing APIs
- Strong coding skills, preferably Go
- Ability to write clean, well tested, maintainable code
- Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event-Driven Design
- Containerization and orchestration familiarity, especially Kubernetes
- Cloud experience, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with messaging queues / message brokers
Nice-to-Haves
- Understanding of cloud-based modern architecture, infrastructure, and orchestration practices (noted as an asset)
