About the role
Role Overview
Senior Software Engineer for Payments focused on API Development and Cloud Migration. This is a remote role limited to candidates based in AZ, NC, or TX. You will design, develop, modernize, migrate, and support secure, high-performance enterprise APIs across Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and support secure, scalable, high-performing APIs and microservices
- Modernize and migrate APIs/integration services from on-prem to AWS cloud-native architectures
- Build cloud-native solutions using AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS, AWS Transfer Family)
- Develop RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot while following enterprise architecture and security standards
- Support existing API platforms: troubleshooting, resiliency improvements, new functionality, and performance optimization
- Implement event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, Amazon SNS, and Amazon SQS
- Build and support containerized apps using OpenShift, Docker, and AWS ECS
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions with architects, engineers, product owners, and stakeholders
- Apply secure coding practices and API security controls (authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management)
- Participate in API migration activities (assessment, refactoring, testing, deployment, production cutover)
- Use Terraform for Infrastructure as Code provisioning and deployment
- Implement and support CI/CD pipelines for automated build/test/deploy/release
- Use observability tools such as Dynatrace, CloudWatch, X-Ray, Grafana, Splunk for monitoring and troubleshooting
- Provide on-call support, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
- Contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of software application development (as stated)
Nice-to-haves
- Deep expertise in API development, microservices, and cloud migration strategies
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and enterprise integration patterns
