Senior Software Engineer (Node)

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer focused on Node.js backend services with full-stack exposure (Next.js/React) and healthcare-grade reliability. You will design scalable systems, build RESTful APIs, optimize SQL databases, and help lead technical execution through mentorship and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• System architecture & design: Lead design/implementation of scalable, maintainable systems aligned to business requirements and technical standards.
• Backend & database development:
  • Build robust backend services (REST APIs) using Node.js frameworks such as Express.js or Fastify.
  • Design/optimize SQL schemas, write complex queries, and improve performance (indexing, tuning).
  • Implement ORM layers using Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize, or similar.
• API design & documentation: Create well-documented RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Technical leadership: Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce coding standards.
• Performance optimization: Identify and resolve bottlenecks in systems, databases, and APIs to ensure high availability.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with product managers and other engineers (including .NET developers).
• Documentation & knowledge sharing: Maintain technical documentation for continuity.
• Security & compliance: Apply security best practices and ensure systems are compliant with relevant regulations.
• Problem solving: Troubleshoot complex issues and minimize downtime.
• Cloud & DevOps: Deploy/manage on Azure, implement CI/CD, and work with containerization (Docker), including GitHub Actions/workflows.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, with focus on Node and React and primarily backend development.
• Strong backend expertise in Node.js 20 LTS and experience with frameworks such as Express.js, Fastify, NestJS, or similar.
• Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server (schema design, query optimization, indexing, tuning).
• Proven experience designing/building/documenting RESTful APIs.
• ORM experience: Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize, or similar.
• Proficiency with modern frontend/mobile technologies: Next.js 15+, React 19+, React Native 0.80+, Expo SDK 54+.
• Azure experience (e.g., App Service, Functions, Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage, API Management).
• Docker and CI/CD experience (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and familiarity with Azure container services.
• Testing and TDD experience with tools such as Jest, Mocha, Supertest.
• Strong Git workflow experience (PR reviews, branching strategies).
• Experience with authentication/authorization such as JWT, OAuth, Azure AD.

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL or tRPC.
• Full-stack experience including .NET Core, Azure, and C#.
