Senior Software Engineer (Mobile Developer)

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer (Mobile Developer), you will work with a cross-functional team to design, develop, and modernize a native Android mobile application. Your work will span backend services, frontend UI, and integrations with internal systems, while shaping system architecture and mentoring teammates.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and modernize a native Android app using the Java/Kotlin ecosystem
• Build and integrate REST APIs, authentication protocols, and enterprise services
• Upgrade older Java-based native apps to Kotlin, including SDK/API level upgrades
• Implement continuous quality practices across the delivery lifecycle
• Participate in system architecture decisions and foster a culture of experimentation
• Use and troubleshoot enterprise deployment components (from DNS onward) including containers
• Leverage cloud capabilities (AWS preferred) for provisioning, serverless tooling, deployment, load balancing, and security

Requirements

• Java ecosystem proficiency: Java, Kotlin, Maven, Gradle
• Testing tools: JUnit (or similar), JMeter (or similar load testing)
• Android development experience
• Experience with development tools and deployment pipelines: Git/GitHub Enterprise, unit/integration/load testing, curl, Postman
• Strong database experience: PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle and NoSQL (DynamoDB)
• Experience/understanding of AI tools (benefits and current drawbacks)
• Knowledge of TDD/iterative testing feedback loops
• Familiarity with Agile or Lean; hands-on Agile ceremony/delivery cycle experience preferred

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years of software engineering experience
• Alternative combinations considered (e.g., master’s + 2 years; PhD + up to 1 year; or 8 years in a related field)

Contract / Pay / Location

• Location: Atlanta, GA (Remote)
• Duration: 6 months
• Pay Range: $80/hr – $83/hr
• Candidates must be directly contracted by ASK Consulting on their payroll (no subcontracting) and no sponsorship is available at this time.
