About the role

Role Overview

Makai Labs is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for a full-time remote position. You’ll focus on backend app development, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and build solutions that improve user experiences and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Develop new features using Flask
Optimize backend services for speed, scalability, and performance
Ensure technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
Collaborate with frontend developers and web designers to improve usability
Write robust, clean, documented code
Maintain and enhance existing applications
Conduct performance tests and ensure responsiveness and stability across platforms
Support discovery by documenting and modeling client workflows (notes, documentation parsing, process diagrams)

Requirements

7+ years of experience in Python
4+ years using Flask
Experience with SQLAlchemy and pydantic
Experience using Docker
Understanding of microservices architecture and related patterns
Strong software engineering skills: maintainable, well-structured code
Familiarity with modern authorization mechanisms
Proven ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
Strong English communication skills

Nice to Have

Experience supporting full discovery and workflow documentation into process diagrams
