About the role

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer (m/w/d) – Teilprojektleitung at Steadforce, you take technical and domain responsibility for multiple sub-projects. You help ensure timely delivery according to quality standards while actively shaping the overall project architecture and modernization roadmap.

Responsibilities

Own technical and functional delivery for multiple sub-projects, ensuring timely and quality-compliant outputs
Coordinate across sub-projects with the Team Lead, Project Manager, and relevant customer stakeholders
Influence planning and control of all sub-projects to secure successful completion of the overall program
Contribute to the overall architecture and direction; bring new ideas into the team
Analyze existing systems and develop solutions for modernization and further development
Design and implement new software components using Java (e.g., Quarkus)
Develop and integrate:
- Synchronous interfaces (e.g., REST/JSON)
- Asynchronous interfaces (e.g., Kafka)
Support system integration as well as integration and system tests
Collaborate with customers and business teams in technical and functional discussions
Work in an Agile environment (plan and support sprints: planning, reviews)
Create and prioritize User Stories with stakeholders

Requirements

5+ years experience in software development with Java
Experience in IT project management, ideally steering sub-projects in an Agile environment
Confident with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DB2)
Experience with test frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, WireMock
Familiar with modern development processes: Git, Code Reviews, CI/CD
Cloud experience (e.g., Azure) and REST interfaces (advantage)

Nice to Have

Knowledge of BOM/Bill of Materials (Stücklistensysteme) from domains like machine or vehicle engineering
