Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Join Kong’s Mission Volcano team, building the UI infrastructure layer for the agentic era. You’ll own the front-end end-to-end, create precise visual systems for agent workflows and developer tooling, and collaborate closely with the full-stack team.

What You’ll Do

• Own the entire Volcano front-end surface: from architecture decisions to pixel-level delivery of data visualizations.
• Build UI components including:
  • Log views
  • Chart components
  • Table interfaces
  • Graph-based agent workflow visualizations
• Architect performant, maintainable front-end systems within a Next.js monorepo, designed with full-stack context.
• Lead and iterate in pair design sessions; adapt quickly when product direction shifts.
• Integrate with backend services built in Go, understanding auth flows, API contracts, and UI placement in the overall system.
• Help build an upcoming LLM-driven code generation and deployment flow, including:
  • Web-based text editors
  • Chat interfaces
  • Dynamic graph visualizations for agent orchestration
• Participate in PR reviews in GitHub, contributing to code quality and technical rigor.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of production front-end engineering, with demonstrated ownership of UI systems end-to-end.
• Deep, practical SSR experience; Next.js is primary (Remix or TanStack Start are considered equivalent).
• Strong React and monorepo proficiency, including reasoning about cross-package dependencies.
• Full-stack systems fluency across auth architectures, API design, and backend data flows.
• Data-heavy UI delivery experience (log views, chart systems, table UIs, graph/node visualizations) at a quality level beyond basic AI/LLM experimentation.
• Comfort using AI tooling in daily development.
• Ownership mindset with adaptability when direction changes.
• Collaborative work style: pair sessions, PR reviews, cross-functional design.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Go or familiarity with Go-based backend services.
• Exposure to developer tooling / API platforms / infrastructure-adjacent products (e.g., Vercel, Supabase, Netlify, Postman).
• Experience building web-based text editors, chat interfaces, or node/edge graph UIs.
• Familiarity with LLM UI integration patterns (streaming responses, tool use, agent orchestration).
