About the role
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at Kobie, you’ll improve and extend a production Java/Angular platform that powers loyalty integrations. You’ll help solve performance and reliability issues, mature the SDLC, and collaborate with product owners and engineers to deliver features and acceptance criteria.
Responsibilities
- Make rapid improvements to the existing Java/Angular codebase to address production problems
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Help institute a more mature SDLC
- Work with loyalty platform integration points (live APIs, batch, and queue-based processing)
- Participate in design sessions and collaborate with product owners to meet acceptance criteria
- Build and maintain configuration and business logic rule documentation
- Coach and mentor team members; promote good coding practices and patterns
- Provide accurate time estimates and scope for tasks/projects
- Develop simple solutions to complex problems and suggest process/component improvements
- Coordinate effectively with other groups and third parties
Requirements
- 5+ years designing and developing applications/components with Java and Spring (prefer JDK 11+ and Spring Boot)
- 3+ years building RESTful services using JSON
- 3+ years developing microservice cloud applications on Oracle, AWS, or Azure
- 3+ years writing SQL multi-table queries, inserts, and updates (prefer Oracle/PostgreSQL)
- Experience tuning SQL using execution explain plans
- Familiarity with Agile (e.g., Scrum)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Loyalty, Accounting, or Banking applications
- Message queues (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka Streams)
- Docker and Kubernetes (kubectl, Docker for Desktop)
- Build/management tools (Bitbucket/Git, Gradle, Bamboo)
