About the role

Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript)

Fortress Information Security is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript) to design, build, and maintain scalable software solutions that support its mission to secure the software supply chain.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable, maintainable applications primarily with JavaScript, Node.js, and React
Architect solutions aligned with engineering standards, with ownership across architecture, performance, scalability, and maintainability
Develop and integrate RESTful and RPC APIs
Build responsive, user-centered UI using modern UI/UX principles (e.g., Material Design)
Work with relational and document databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB
Use agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent) for architecture exploration, refactoring, test generation, code review, and investigation
Translate business requirements into technical solutions with Product, Business Owners, QA, and cross-functional stakeholders
Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design decisions
Partner with QA to validate, document, and resolve defects
Create and maintain technical documentation (feature docs, release notes, testing procedures)
Use SDLC management tools to manage workflow, estimates, tracking, and work logging
Champion AI adoption by helping establish orchestration patterns and skill standardization
Evaluate and propose new technologies and architectural improvements

Requirements

5+ years experience with JavaScript, Node.js, React and related tooling
Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JSON, and Linux-based development environments
Working proficiency in Python
Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs
Solid understanding of UI/UX best practices
Ability to deliver robust, scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality
Ability to design, implement, and guide effective prompting strategies / AI-enabled processes
Strong communication skills; can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to drive technical decisions independently while collaborating effectively
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (required)

Preferred Skills

Experience with PostgreSQL and other relational databases
Experience with MongoDB and document/NoSQL databases
Experience contributing to scalable, high-availability production systems
Ability to independently refine AI-driven prompts to improve workflows and outcomes

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or 5+ years equivalent experience
