Senior Software Engineer (Internally Deployed Products)

Role overview

Join ClickUp as a Senior Software Engineer in The Foundry, ClickUp’s internal AI innovation lab. You’ll deliver the technical foundation for ClickUp’s internally deployed AI/MCP server platform, including agent orchestration and internal tooling that powers GTM workflows.

Key missions

• Design, develop, and operate MCP servers (Model Context Protocol) to expose internal data sources such as CRM, ticketing/billing, analytics, and communications to AI agents.
• Implement authentication and authorization flows:
  • Okta PKCE for secure auth.
  • RBAC policies to ensure agents can only access permitted data.
• Own observability and reliability:
  • Structured logging
  • Distributed tracing
  • Latency SLOs
  • Call runbooks / operational documentation.
• Deliver integrations that directly improve Sales, Marketing, Post-Sales, and Revenue Operations efficiency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production systems.
• Meaningful AWS deployment experience, including:
  • Lambda, Bedrock, ECS/Fargate
  • API Gateway, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch
• Expert-level TypeScript and Node.js for idiomatic, typed, testable server-side code.
• Strong Python experience for automation, data pipelines, and scripting for AI/ML tooling.
• Strong written communication skills (e.g., design docs, ADRs, runbooks).
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK, or SAM) and cloud cost awareness.
• Proven experience using AI tools (LLM assistants/copilots/agentic workflows) as a real productivity multiplier.
• Solid security fundamentals:
  • REST API design
  • OAuth 2.0 / OIDC
  • secure credential management
• Experience integrating with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock) and shipping AI-powered features to real users.
• Hands-on experience with MCP (building servers, defining tool schemas, or running multi-server agent environments).
• Experience with Okta / identity provider integration (e.g., PKCE flows, token management, and SCIM).

Nice to have

• GCP experience (Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud Functions) to complement AWS.
• CRM API integrations (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and GTM data model understanding.
• Front-end capability with React or Next.js to ship internal dashboards/tools.
• Experience in GTM Systems / RevOps / Sales Engineering contexts.
• Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent orchestration patterns.
