Senior Software Engineer

Role

Senior/Staff/Lead Software Engineer for a Fortune 500 retail client (3 openings). The team will work on incoming requests from the client’s private label credit card vendor, focused on Account Management flows within Front-End Point of Sale (POS) systems, with a possible adjacent focus on payment acceptance in the store checkout environment.

Location & Work Model

• Remote (Atlanta, GA preferred)
• Duration: 2.5 years

Responsibilities

• Build AI-first solutions using spec-driven development to turn well-defined requirements into working features across POS codebases.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies:
  • standups, weekly story refinement, iteration planning, retrospectives
• Partner with UX and Product Management to:
  • understand and define problem statements
  • identify success metrics and measure proposed value
• Define and track success metrics and build dashboards for observability (preferably Grafana).
• Perform extensive testing (e.g., unit, integration, UAT) and validate features before delivery.
• Provide production support as needed:
  • update dashboards/alerting
  • ensure application health after deployments
  • participate in incident triage/calls if required

Requirements (MUST HAVES)

• Strong AI-first development experience, specifically Spec Driven Development
• Heavy experience with retail and Front-End Point of Sale
• Payment experience (POS/payment) is a major plus
• Backend: Java, Spring Boot
• Frontend: React
• Google Cloud environment experience
• GitHub Actions
• Automation testing best practices and tooling
• Experience defining success metrics and building observability dashboards (preferably Grafana)

• Experience with Oracle 360 Commerce framework
• GKE experience
