About the role
Role overview
You will help train next-generation AI systems by building reinforcement learning (RL) environments that test an AI model’s ability to solve complex software engineering workflows. No prior AI experience is required—your domain knowledge in software engineering and debugging is what matters.
Responsibilities
- Create reproducible RL environments with a golden reference solution
- Implement and validate RL tasks that reflect real-world workflows
- Model-focused evaluation of software engineering steps (e.g., DevOps/CI/CD/debugging-style workflows)
- Develop solutions that are maintainable and performance-aware
Required skills / qualifications
- Proficiency in one or more of: C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance tuning
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex software issues and deliver maintainable solutions
- Experience with feature development and codebase refactoring
- Ability to optimize for performance and scalability
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong attention to detail
- Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams (remote experience preferred)
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with large-scale, distributed codebases
- Familiarity with modern AI/ML systems (helpful, not required)
- Participation in rigorous code reviews and contributing to software best practices

Compensation & schedule
- Output-based pay: experts are paid per task that meets project specifications
- Approximate commitment: ~15 hrs/week
