Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure

Role overview

Senior Software Engineers join Veeva’s Infrastructure team to architect, build, and operate the highly scalable cloud services behind Veeva Vault. The work focuses on performance, quality, release velocity, and hands-on engineering for a secure, distributed, high-throughput platform.

What you’ll do

• Lead design, development, and deployment of distributed, high-throughput cloud services from concept to production
• Architect and optimize infrastructure to leverage cloud elasticity and deliver multi-tenant scale
• Drive initiatives for Immutable Infrastructure and containerization using Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code patterns
• Act as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, raising engineering standards
• Own the end-to-end feature lifecycle, ensuring systems are scalable, highly available, and maintainable

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development, primarily in Java (or similar OOP language) at an enterprise level
• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS core services (e.g., EC2, IAM, Route 53, Auto Scaling, ELB, S3, VPC)
• Strong experience with MySQL (or similar), including complex replication and multi-master setups
• Modern stack experience: Spring / Spring Boot, Git, Jenkins (CI/CD), Tomcat, Linux
• Expertise with Immutable Infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Docker, Ansible, Terraform, or Packer
• Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python/Shell)
• Ability to write clean, well-tested code and mentor others
• Strong communication skills in verbal and written English

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration
• Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
