Role overview

Senior Software Engineer in Test (SET) — Commerce Own quality engineering for Stord’s Commerce product surface. You will execute structured manual QA to maintain today’s quality standard while building automation infrastructure that improves reliability over time. You’ll define what “tested” means across Stord’s Shopify apps, checkout extensions, and the brand portal, and act as the quality authority on a team that treats reliability as a competitive advantage.

Responsibilities

• Establish and shape the quality standard for Commerce; define what “tested” means across the product surface.
• Serve as a quality gate for Commerce feature releases.
• Write and execute test plans and perform structured regression passes before releases.
• Identify and document coverage gaps with sufficient detail so engineers can act.
• Build automation infrastructure/tooling to enforce quality and raise the ceiling over time.

Requirements

• Strong experience in manual QA and structured regression testing.
• Ability to design quality coverage and define testing standards across complex UI/product surfaces.
• Engineering mindset with ownership of reliability and testability.

Nice-to-haves / Context signals

• Experience testing Shopify apps and related components (e.g., checkout extensions, storefront embeds).
• Familiarity with TypeScript-first service layers.
• Interest in an AI-forward development environment where AI-assisted development is normal.
