About the role

Role overview

As a Senior Software Engineer II on Prolific’s Engineering team, you will drive technical excellence across a product development team. You will lead technical direction for projects, ensuring delivery of scalable, secure, high-quality solutions, while mentoring and supporting engineers. The role may also include line management responsibilities for less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

Lead technical projects: oversee design and implementation of key initiatives aligned with business goals and customer needs.
Collaborate with stakeholders: partner with Product Managers and others to define scope, timelines, and resourcing; provide expert technical guidance.
Drive engineering excellence: write high-quality, efficient code; uphold standards through code reviews; contribute to engineering standards via the Technical Authority Group.
Mentor and develop team members: foster an inclusive environment, mentor engineers, and support hiring/onboarding.
Influence technical direction: participate in strategic technical decisions and promote adoption of new technologies and processes.
Own deliverables: take responsibility for features/products through deployment and ongoing support.
