Senior Software Engineer II (Distribution)

Role overview

Articulate is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II for the Distribution team. You’ll help build and maintain products that deliver eLearning content to learners globally, partnering with teams behind content creation tools like Rise 360 and Storyline.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of new features and enhancements, balancing delivery speed with scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability.
• Shape application architecture for a distributed platform: keep it performant, secure, and accessible worldwide.
• Drive technical direction by leading design discussions, evaluating tradeoffs, and introducing frameworks/patterns that raise the engineering bar.
• Mentor engineers across levels through coaching and code/work reviews.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to align solutions with customer needs.
• Guide incident response and operations: anchor on-call rotations and help teams navigate complex issues.
• Contribute to a remote-first, world-class engineering culture and drive outcomes with autonomy.

Requirements

• 8+ years building and scaling production software systems (proven depth and breadth).
• Strong backend and frontend expertise with: Node.js, Postgres, Docker, React, TypeScript.
• Experience developing and maintaining services on AWS.
• Operational/observability experience with Datadog (or equivalent APM).
• Track record building secure, compliant distributed applications with focus on scalability, observability, and resilience.
• Commitment to accessibility and inclusive design.
• Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated technical leadership beyond your immediate team (mentoring, influencing direction).
