Senior Software Engineer I (Frontend)

Role Overview

Inductive Automation is hiring two Senior Software Engineer I (Frontend) roles—one for the Ignition team (flagship product) and one for the Tools & Services team (building a new product from scratch). The engineer will participate across the full product lifecycle (design through support and maintenance) and may interact with customers to troubleshoot or gather requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of features/projects: design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and support
• Improve code structure and architecture for testability and maintainability
• Write, co-write, and review design documentation
• Maintain high proficiency in one or more technical areas
• Prioritize unowned/undesirable work that helps the team move faster
• Ensure work meets established quality standards
• Collaborate with team and adjacent teams to solve problems
• Escalate issues with wider scope when needed
• Assist and teach other engineers (IC leadership)
• Provide thoughtful and timely code reviews
• Meet and maintain 6-month performance milestones
• Take ownership of one or more product areas or serve in an IC leadership role (e.g., Product Lead, Scrum Master)

Requirements

• 4–6+ years of software engineering/development experience
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals (OOP, data structures/algorithms, multi-threaded architecture, and cybersecurity)
• Hands-on frontend programming with JavaScript and/or TypeScript and React
• Experience with tooling such as IntelliJ (or equivalent), Git, and Webpack
• Creative problem solving and passion for building user-friendly applications
• Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working in teams using Agile methodologies

Strong Web Skills (Included in “Strongly Preferred”)

• HTML5, CSS3, ES6
• React, TypeScript
• Less/Sass
• Webpack and responsive layout
