Senior Software Engineer

Role overview

Senior Software Engineer (Infrastructure) for an AI-native startup. This is an application-layer infrastructure role: you will build the logic that controls infrastructure (rather than only configuring it), designing systems that scale across thousands of isolated, customer-specific environments.

Responsibilities

• Build application-layer systems that manage infrastructure (VM lifecycle, containers, orchestration, queues)
• Design and scale isolated per-customer environments across VMs and containers
• Create abstractions for queues, locking, background processing, and service orchestration
• Own and evolve infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Pulumi, Terraform, CDK)
• Work hands-on with Linux, networking, containers, storage, and runtime debugging
• Ship high-impact features quickly in a rapid iteration, high-ownership environment

Requirements

• 6–12 years of experience owning production infrastructure and systems at scale
• Strong backend foundation (~60% backend / 40% infrastructure)
• Deep experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP also acceptable)
• Proven track record shipping end-to-end production systems
• Must build infrastructure through application code (not only tooling/configuration)
• Experience in Series A–C startups with ownership of critical systems
• Hands-on expertise with:
  • Containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Pulumi, Terraform, CDK)
  • Messaging systems, queues, and async processing
  • Managing isolated customer environments at scale
• Background such as Founder / Founding Engineer (or equivalent ownership level)

Nice-to-haves / stand-out signals

• Passion for AI and real-world applications
• Experience building persistent, isolated environments (VMs or containers)
• Ability to balance application engineering with infrastructure ownership
• Founder-level velocity, ownership, and decision-making
