About the role

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Harbor Compliance, you will be a core technical anchor for delivering high-complexity product features and leading platform modernization. The role spans a full-stack PHP + Vue.js ecosystem, combining engineering excellence with AI-assisted development workflows and mentorship.

Responsibilities

Architect and implement end-to-end, high-priority complex full-stack product features with long-term scalability in mind.
Execute the modernization roadmap by safely rewriting and decoupling legacy monolithic components into modern architectural patterns while maintaining production stability.
Lead adoption and mastery of AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to improve personal velocity and enable automated development workflows.
Ensure code quality, reliability, and security by meeting quality gates with zero deferred technical debt.
Perform rigorous code reviews with targets of ~4-hour pickup and ~2-hour completion during standard business hours.
Improve sprint predictability through accurate scoping/estimation, targeting 80%+ sprint completion and <20% rollover.
Conduct advanced troubleshooting to optimize platform performance and diagnose complex system behavior; contribute to 99.98% uptime.
Facilitate 12 technical knowledge-sharing/training sessions annually, including refactoring strategies, AI prompt engineering, and modern full-stack PHP/Vue patterns.

Requirements

Extensive experience in software engineering and architecture.
Deep expertise in PHP, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and modern framework adoption.
Strong front-end engineering skills with Vue.js (also mentions Angular or React as acceptable).
Proven experience designing RESTful APIs, integration standards, and reusable service patterns.
Advanced database engineering with MySQL, including advanced SQL optimization and data governance for performance/scalability.
Strong DevOps and quality engineering knowledge, including setting up unit/integration testing frameworks and managing CI/CD pipelines.
Mastery of AI-enhanced development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Tabnine, CodeWhisperer) to improve personal coding cycle time by 20–30%.
Experience mentoring/coaching engineers and providing actionable feedback to level up mid-level and junior engineers.

Nice-to-haves

Experience driving large-scale refactoring and modernization of monoliths.
Proven ability to lead predictable delivery cadence and improve team velocity through engineering rigor.
