Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack

Role overview

Flock is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack, frontend-leaning) for its Cloud Video team. The team builds extremely low-latency live video capabilities and a custom video management system used to display and manage live video for customers.

You’ll help develop interactive, high-impact software that enables customers to respond quickly using live footage. No video experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve Flock’s custom Video Management Software, including live video display and related workflows
• Develop APIs and contribute to system architecture
• Implement performant UI optimizations for smooth, responsive experiences across platforms/devices
• Contribute to metrics collection and automated test suites
• Work on improvements to speed, resource usage, and API simplicity
• Own smaller projects and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and product teams

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience
• Strong coding ability and experience approaching unknown problems with a plan of attack
• Experience with React (or other JavaScript frameworks) and TypeScript
• Experience building TypeScript/Node web services
• Proven ability to design and implement APIs
• Experience with AWS and cloud tooling
• Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), AWS Lambda, and Docker
• Ability to work cross-functionally with product and other engineering teams

Nice to have / inferred

• Experience with designing UI and optimizing performance in real-time or latency-sensitive applications

90-day plan (high level)

• First 30 days: learn team workflows, contribute small features/bugfixes, get familiar with repos
• First 60 days: operate with minimal guidance, join architecture discussions, contribute to metrics/testing
• 90+ days: propose and drive improvements, start owning projects, ensure success with cross-functional partners

Compensation

• $160,000–$190,000 starting salary plus stock/equity (equity details truncated in posting)
