Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack), Digital Storefront

Role overview

Toast is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack) for the Digital Storefront “Flex” team. The team advances consumer-facing restaurant products (e.g., Online Ordering, VoiceAI, branded websites, and branded mobile apps) and works in an agile, product-oriented way across the suite.

Responsibilities

• Design, scope, and implement solutions using a modern fullstack stack
• Enhance platform performance, usability, and scalability
• Collaborate with the team to identify high-impact opportunities
• Run experiments and iterate quickly to support business goals
• Deliver testable code, including API design and unit testing
• Maintain strong teamwork and contribute as a high-impact member of the team

Requirements

• 5+ years building fullstack web applications
• Strong JavaScript framework experience, specifically React
• Proficiency with CSS and frameworks such as Tailwind or Bootstrap
• Backend experience with Node.js, Java, or Kotlin
• Experience building with AWS services, plus tools such as Docker and Git
• Familiarity implementing from high-fidelity UX mocks (e.g., Figma, Sketch)
• Experience shipping and maintaining testable codebases (API design + unit testing frameworks)
• Agile mindset: comfortable shipping quickly and improving/cleaning up iteratively
• Testing mindset with familiarity in testing methodologies and frameworks
• Customer- and user-focused: enjoy seeing people use the product in real life
