About the role

Role overview

Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack TypeScript) at Commerce/ Makeswift, helping broaden Makeswift’s product reach by designing, prototyping, and shipping features for commerce frontends and visual authoring experiences.

Responsibilities

Implement new onboarding flows for the Makeswift app in close collaboration with Product
Deliver end-to-end product experiences across Makeswift and third-party commerce integrations
Instrument and measure product signals to validate product bets
Build and improve Makeswift’s rich text editing experience
Design and implement UI and APIs for structured content
Work on data structures supporting real-time collaboration and deep merging for components
Improve the React-based UI design system (accessibility, performance, and component API design)
Expand Makeswift APIs to enable better first- and third-party integrations (ecommerce, translations, search, AI, etc.)
Collaborate with the Agents team to leverage LLMs to solve customer problems

Requirements (Must-haves)

5+ years building web applications
Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript with production experience
Deep understanding of web standards: HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web APIs (DOM, Fetch API)
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize web performance (Core Web Vitals)
Experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs
Experience with UI testing frameworks/libraries (e.g., Vitest, Jest, Playwright, React Testing Library)
Experience with monitoring, observability, and analytics tooling (e.g., Sentry, Segment)
Comfortable with CI/CD and hosting tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Vercel, GCP, AWS)
Excellent problem solving and clear written/verbal communication

Nice-to-haves

Experience managing complex frontend state in React (e.g., Redux, Zustand, MobX)
Familiarity with client-side data fetching libraries (e.g., Apollo Client, TanStack Query, SWR)
Familiarity with bundlers/transpilers (e.g., Webpack, Vite, Babel, Rollup)
Experience building visual editing or design tools
Background in ecommerce platforms
Experience with NestJS
