About the role

Role overview

Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) — a foundational hire in MaRe’s privately funded startup. This is a technical leadership role where you own the product lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture decisions through deployment, sustainment, and production support.

Responsibilities

End-to-end full-stack delivery: Build new features, maintain the existing codebase, and ensure high availability across the stack (NestJS/React).
Infrastructure & DevOps ownership: Manage AWS services and IAM (Cognito), improve CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and provision infrastructure using CloudFormation/CDK.
Technical strategy: Run research and PoCs, and keep the stack current with strong attention to security posture.
Support & stability (L3/L4): Triage and resolve production issues to maintain service quality.
Stakeholder collaboration: Translate business requirements into high-quality engineering deliverables through frequent communication.

Technical stack

Frontend: React, TypeScript, SCSS
Backend: Node.js, NestJS, Python
Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB
Cloud: AWS, CDK, Docker (Compose), Linux
Search (strong plus): Elasticsearch, Solr, or OpenSearch
Mobile (nice to have): Android experience (Kotlin preferred)
Integrations (highly valued): Shopify, Zoho (CRM/Deluge scripting)

Core qualifications

System design & integration: Strong full-stack/system integration experience; understands HTTP and REST API design.
Version control: Advanced git proficiency (non-negotiable).
AI-enhanced workflow: Experience accelerating development/refactoring with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
Communication & quality: Can explain technical concepts to business stakeholders; champions best practices while staying pragmatic about deadlines.
