Senior Software Engineer, Full-Stack

Role overview

As a Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack), you’ll help scale and improve GeneDx’s technology platform and build software products that impact user experiences and business workflows. You’ll lead technical efforts across large, multi-month initiatives and propose novel solutions to real business challenges.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and extend the platform by diving into unfamiliar codebases
• Lead technical efforts on smaller projects and participate in larger feature development
• Propose technical designs with attention to standard patterns, tradeoffs, and maintainability
• Deliver thorough, meaningful code reviews
• Work cross-functionally with engineering and non-engineering partners
• Prototype, develop, and debug new features
• Prototype and implement DevOps/cloud patterns and maintain services
• Participate in support including off-hours and weekend on-call rotations

Requirements

• Proficiency in at least 3 software languages; strong ability to learn new ones quickly
• Python highly desired (other acceptable languages: C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or others)
• 5+ years building back-end services and APIs in a distributed, service-oriented architecture
• 5+ years building large-scale front-end applications using modern frameworks (React highly desired; Vue or Angular acceptable)
• 5+ years in data modeling across multiple databases and storage types
• 3+ years designing and deploying services in the cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI)

Bonus points

• Healthcare/health tech or other regulated industry experience (data privacy/compliance)
• Kubernetes certifications

Additional details

• Work is primarily in a remote office setting
• Salary range: $170,000–$180,000 USD
