Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack Focus

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack focus) to build and scale impactful digital products in a fast-paced, remote-first insurance technology environment. You’ll work across modern web applications and backend services, with architectural influence, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimize scalable full-stack applications using TypeScript, PostgreSQL, modern JavaScript frameworks, and backend languages like Ruby and Python.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions to improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, PMO, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, customer-focused software.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, standups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Write clean, maintainable code across frontend and backend systems.
• Mentor engineers via pair programming, code reviews, and technical coaching.
• Identify and implement system improvements for performance, developer experience, and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical expertise during planning, execution, and incident resolution.
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and processes.

Requirements

• Proven experience shipping large-scale, production-ready software in fast-paced environments.
• Strong full-stack experience with TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
• Backend experience with Ruby, Python, or similar object-oriented languages.
• Solid understanding of scalable software architecture and system design.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL (optimizing data performance is a plus).
• Demonstrated mentoring ability through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to connect technical decisions to business impact.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, QA, program management).
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous, evolving startup environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance technical and business priorities.

Nice to Have

• Deep relational database experience (PostgreSQL) and performance tuning.
