About the role
Role Overview
Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems. You will lead agile teams/projects, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery of high-quality, modular, scalable frontend solutions.
Responsibilities
- Write high-quality code for complex scenarios with strong test coverage.
- Translate product requirements into robust designs for distributed, modular, configurable, reusable, performant, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable systems.
- Lead design and code reviews across multiple applications to ensure adherence to Mercury standards and best practices.
- Lead sprint execution to deliver new/improved features, removing impediments tied to the sprint backlog.
- Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to deliver intended functionality.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers to foster innovation and engineering excellence.
Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years software programming experience.
- Minimum 2+ years experience with technologies used at Mercury.
- 1+ year experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
- Preferred: 7+ years building modern, enterprise-grade web applications with strong frontend expertise.
- Preferred: 5+ years designing intuitive, user-friendly document management/content-centric interfaces for a range of users.
- Preferred: 5+ years integrating frontend applications with backend services, APIs, and middleware layers.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Preferred: Master’s degree.
- Skills / Knowledge:
- Proficient in one or more industry-standard languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript).
- Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and caching.
- API experience using REST and gRPC.
- Message queuing/data streaming/workflow/integration frameworks (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Amazon SQS, MS MQ, Apache Camel).
- Knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Containerization: Docker and Kubernetes.
- DevSecOps practices to improve engineering efficiency.
- Distributed systems design focused on reuse, performance, security, compliance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Analytics and experimentation to improve system speed and effectiveness.
- Strong problem-solving.
