Senior Software Engineer, Frontend

Role Overview

Join Flock as a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) for The Problem Search, a critical customer-facing tool used to follow leads, identify vehicles, and resolve cases faster. You’ll lead frontend web architecture and optimize high-traffic search experiences while partnering across product, design, and backend teams.

You Will Own

• Lead the architectural evolution and frontend execution for core Search features across a React, TypeScript, and Node web stack
• Translate user research and design mocks into production-grade, performant user experiences
• Build map-based data visualizations and geospatial interfaces (high-density location data)
• Champion frontend engineering standards, including thorough code reviews and mentoring across the Search team
• Monitor and optimize client-side performance, including state management and data retrieval for data-heavy web apps

What This Role Is Not

• Not backend-heavy or infrastructure-focused; the emphasis is frontend architecture and UX
• Not a design-only/prototyping role; you will write and ship production code
• Not an isolated contribution role; you’ll participate in customer calls and team retros, and mentor peers

What You Bring

• Mastery of modern frontend web technologies and application design patterns using React and TypeScript
• Experience building map-based visualizations using Mapbox or Google Maps API
• Fullstack working context with Node.js services and API design concepts such as REST, GraphQL, or gRPC
• Understanding of backend interaction patterns and relational databases like PostgreSQL
• Resourceful problem-solving in ambiguous environments and a mindset of continuous learning

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with AWS managed services
• Frontend performance optimization experience for high-traffic applications

Location / Work Model

• Hub-based roles prioritized in Atlanta and Boston with real in-person time
• Remote roles may be available when explicitly stated
