Senior Software Engineer, Frontend (Advanced Trade)

Role Overview

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend (Advanced Trade) to lead the front-end technical strategy for Coinbase Advanced, its advanced trading platform. This role focuses on improving performance and reliability across web and mobile clients while working at the intersection of crypto, trading infrastructure, and consumer product.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define and execute a technical roadmap for a reliable, scalable trading platform.
• Design and implement scalable, maintainable, high-performance user interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
• Partner with backend engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to convert product and technical visions into actionable roadmaps.
• Lead complex projects and maintain high standards for code quality and system design.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience optimizing frontend performance for low-latency, high-reliability systems.
• Strong communication skills; ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable stakeholder plans.
• Demonstrated ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., Claude, LibreChat, Gemini, Glean), including human-in-the-loop workflows and measurable improvements to efficiency, cost, and quality.

Nice to Haves

• Experience at a company scaling rapidly (e.g., 10 to 100s of engineers).
• Experience building low-latency trading systems.
• Experience with blockchains (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).
• Crypto-forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, and dApps/blockchain-based services.

Location / Work Model

• United States.
• Remote-first, but in-person participation is required throughout the year (offsites multiple times annually; attendance expected and supported).
