About the role
Role overview
The Senior Software Engineer (Front End) defines, develops, and delivers secure, reliable, scalable, and optimized front-end applications aligned to Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX) coding standards. You’ll collaborate with engineers, testers, Architecture, Product, PMO, third-party vendors, and support teams to ensure program alignment and successful releases.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver project code to meet deliverables and release goals
- Collaborate with Scrum Master, RTE, Product, and Architecture on delivery and release management processes
- Estimate, design, and implement front-end deliverables; participate in peer code reviews
- Execute short-term tactical plans and support long-term strategic web technology goals
- Triage and resolve defects found during development and QA
- Support Release Management and Change Control for feature integration and deployment
- Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities per Universal policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Information Technology / Computer Programming and Analysis)
- 5+ years of equivalent experience
- 3+ years working with modern MV* libraries (Angular, React, Vue.js, etc.)
- Strong JavaScript fundamentals plus HTML, CSS, SASS, and ES6+ and/or TypeScript
- Strong understanding of E2E internet app architecture (browser concepts, HTTP, REST) and security best practices
- Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, linting, and code coverage
- Strong communication skills (including explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences)
- Demonstrated collaboration with product owners to translate needs into solutions
- Ability to learn quickly and build with tools you may not have used before
- Empathy and focus on resolving customer-facing challenges
- Produce maintainable, well-tested, modular front-end code; document solutions clearly
Nice to haves
- Experience with enterprise development and large-scale system integration
- Agile/Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Accessibility/ADA compliance experience (e.g., AA, W3)
- Mature SDLC practices, Git, and NPM publishing
- Back-end exposure (Java, .NET)
- Experience with functional and automated testing / quality engineering
