About the role

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Front End/Back End) — remote, individual contributor role with opportunities to grow into leadership, guidance, and mentoring. You will own significant subsystems end-to-end and help drive improvements in engineering processes and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of scope, schedule, and outcomes with minimal oversight.
  • Impact long-term program goals by contributing to the program’s development strategy.
  • Serve as a discipline primary lead when working with stakeholders.
  • Split time across two main work modes:
    • Help a tenant team integrate with the Event Bus.
    • Turn integration learnings into reusable patterns and tooling.
  • Maintain accountability and ownership across an application codebase.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in owned systems; use incidents to drive educational opportunities and system improvements.
  • Mentor and assist more junior engineers.
  • Communicate technical issues and developments to team members and clients.
  • Participate in technical interviews for new candidates.
  • Use influential skills to propose and evaluate multiple approaches to technical and process problems.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated senior-level expertise, accountability, and ownership in an application codebase.
  • Strong ability to understand adjacent technical areas to coordinate integrations.
  • Proven troubleshooting/incident response and ability to translate incidents into improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with both engineering teams and clients/stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
  • Strong influential skills for evaluating multiple approaches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience operating in a blended team and/or federal environment.
  • Experience with event-driven integration (e.g., Event Bus patterns) and building reusable engineering tooling.
