Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Payroll) for FranklinCovey’s Corporate Platform Development team. This is a remote role (anywhere in the contiguous US) where you will help improve how the company designs, builds, and ships software amid rapid technical change.

Responsibilities

• Ship iteratively by writing testable, readable, and maintainable code.
• Understand data flow through complex systems and work with intricate data models.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery velocity while maintaining code quality.
• Design and implement solutions with attention to scale, security, performance, and privacy.
• Mentor and guide other engineers on best practices, including safely integrating AI into development workflows.
• Lead code reviews, share learnings via documentation or presentations, and mentor junior engineers.
• Propose and help implement engineering process improvements, including how to adapt as AI advances.
• Collaborate early in product development by weighing in on product strategy and roadmap based on learner/client research.

Requirements

• Strong ability to ship high-quality software through regular iterative releases.
• Deep understanding of data flows and complex data modeling.
• Experience applying AI-assisted development practices while maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to design for security, performance, reliability, and privacy.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor and lead technical best practices.

• Experience with platform teams delivering world-class solutions (e.g., AI-enhanced learning products).
• Experience participating in design/operational reviews and influencing product direction.
