Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Fountain, you’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to build user-centered web applications for frontline workforce retention. The Engineering team is organized into product squads that own their products’ health and market fit.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain product features and enhancements
• Partner with product and design teams to bring features to life
• Review and collaborate on other developers’ work
• Build RESTful API endpoints and implement new functionality in the Express/Node.js backend
• Extend the data layer using MongoDB models
• Ensure quality, reliability, operations, and security across products
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks to improve speed, scalability, and usability
• Stay current with industry trends and improve the user experience

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering
• Proven product-oriented software development experience
• Strong technical foundation in data structures and architecture
• Proficiency with modern web technologies, including (at minimum):
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • MongoDB
  • Express (must have)
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking about user interactions and system architecture
• Ability to work independently in uncertain, fast-moving environments
• Excellent English communication (written and verbal)

Nice to Have

• Experience in B2B SaaS startup environments and remote international teams
• Familiarity with event-driven, serverless, and high-volume architectures; API strategies
• Knowledge of microservices, web security, and Agile methods
• Testing experience with Vitest/Jest and Playwright
• Familiarity with AWS and/or Ruby on Rails
