Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Fountain, you’ll build user-centered web applications that help organizations improve employee retention. You’ll work with engineers, designers, and product managers across product squads that independently own product health and market fit.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain product features and enhancements
• Collaborate with product and design teams to bring features to life
• Review and collaborate on other developers’ work
• Implement RESTful API endpoints and build new functionality in the Express/Node.js backend
• Extend and work with the MongoDB data model
• Ensure quality, reliability, operations, and security of products
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks; optimize for speed, scalability, and usability
• Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve user experience

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
• Proven product-oriented software development background
• Proficiency with modern technologies, including:
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • MongoDB
  • Express (must-have)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about user interactions and system architecture
• Ability to work independently with ambiguity and limited information
• Excellent communication skills in English

Nice to Have

• Experience in B2B SaaS startup environments and remote international teams
• Familiarity with event-driven, serverless, and high-volume architectures
• Experience with microservices, API strategies, web security, and Agile
• Testing experience with Vitest/Jest and Playwright
• Familiarity with event-driven/serverless/high volume systems and AWS
• Experience with Ruby on Rails

• Role requires collaboration across a globally distributed organization across multiple regions and time zones.
