Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Join Firstup as a Senior Software Engineer (full remote). You will build and maintain public APIs, agentic tools, and third-party enterprise integrations, delivering scalable, fault-tolerant solutions while improving architecture, availability, and production health.

Key Missions

• Design, build, and maintain public-facing APIs and agentic tools that help enterprise customers integrate with and extend the Firstup platform.
• Develop and own integrations with external enterprise systems, especially HRIS platforms such as:
  • Workday
  • SAP SuccessFactors
  • Dayforce
• Write high-quality code (reliable, readable, efficient, testable, scalable, maintainable) and maintain strong engineering practices.
• Provide thorough code reviews and create comprehensive tests and documentation.
• Collaborate across teams on architecture standards and best practices.
• Own production health for your services.

Requirements

• 5+ years building reliable, performant applications and microservices.
• Strong AWS experience, including compute, storage, networking, and monitoring.
• Deep technical expertise in at least one area: networking, security, serverless, event streams, or similar.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Proven full-stack experience across frontend (React.js), backend, and database layers.
• Strong customer focus and interest in building intuitive products.
• Experience building/maintaining HRIS integrations (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Dayforce, or similar).

Nice-to-Haves

• Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.
• Datadog (or similar observability/monitoring tools).
• Use of Generative AI tools / coding agents in development workflows.
• Experience in enterprise SaaS, particularly HR Tech or regulated domains.
• Familiarity with ML/AI integration in production systems.
• Open-source contributions or side projects.
• Ruby experience.
