About the role

Role Overview

Electric is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale its flagship SaaS application. You’ll join a collaborative product team owning a domain, delivering features while maintaining reliability and contributing to architecture. The role blends strong backend engineering with meaningful technical leadership and mentoring, with an emphasis on AI-enabled development.

Responsibilities

Work closely with product managers and engineers to build a market-leading product.
Build scalable platform foundations to support growth in customers, capabilities, integrations, and AI-powered features.
Design and implement scalable APIs, services, and data models for customer-facing applications.
Own reliability, performance, and observability of backend systems in production.
Design, build, and operate scalable backend services using Python and related platform technologies.
Build and maintain performant, accessible frontend experiences using React and TypeScript.
Use and help evolve AI-native development practices (e.g., AI coding assistants, autonomous agents, workflow automation) to increase engineering velocity.
Integrate with third-party services and APIs.
Improve developer experience: tooling, CI/CD, testing, and local development workflows.
Participate in technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions.
Mentor and pair with developers; model craftsmanship, quality, and reliability.

Requirements

8+ years of backend software development experience.
Strong expertise in modern Python-based backend technologies.
Experience operating and improving backend reliability, performance, and observability.
Proven technical leadership experience (e.g., owning architecture decisions, leading design reviews).
Ability to contribute across the stack.
BA/BS/BE in Computer Science/Engineering or comparable experience.

Hands-on familiarity with AI-native engineering workflows and tooling.
