Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Join DroneDeploy as a Senior Software Engineer specializing in 3D web development. You will design and build high-performance visualizations for large spatial datasets, taking complex 3D feature work from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance visualizations for large spatial datasets.
• Integrate and visualize large 3D datasets as cohesive, performant scenes.
• Lead technical design for major 3D features (concept through production).
• Profile and optimize rendering, loading, and interaction performance across devices and networks.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to solve challenging reality capture customer workflows.
• Deliver and maintain production-grade 3D/graphics features, ensuring robustness under real-world usage.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial time in front-end and/or 3D web development.
• Advanced expertise with Three.js (or similar) and the modern 3D web ecosystem, plus solid WebGL understanding.
• Proven ability to ship complex 3D features with performance tuning and robustness.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing (unit/integration/performance) using tools such as Vitest, Jest, and Playwright.
• Strong communication skills with cross-functional partners.
• Ability to work remotely within the US with sufficient overlap with a US-based team.
• Strong experience architecting and shipping large single-page applications using TypeScript and Angular.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with WebGPU concepts.
• Knowledge of common 3D data formats and pipelines such as point clouds, 3D Tiles, meshes, and Gaussian splats.
• Comfortable using AI tools in everyday engineering work while maintaining strong engineering judgment about tradeoffs.
