About the role

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Developer Platform, Full-Stack) in Hims & Hers’ Customer Platform group. You’ll design and implement scalable, high-performance full-stack solutions, and lead technical direction across front-end and back-end systems.

Key Responsibilities

Lead full-stack design and architecture for scalable and performant solutions aligned to product requirements and user experience.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship on best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally to build innovative features that drive growth across treatment categories.
Build systems that other engineering teams depend on, with strong focus on developer (user) needs.

Requirements

5+ years as a software engineer shipping production code.
3+ years experience with microservice architectures.
Strong full-stack proficiency in TypeScript with:
- React (or similar) frontend
- Node.js (or similar) backend
3+ years of backend distributed systems design, development, and delivery.
Experience with Agile development, CI/CD, and testing practices.
Proven ability to solve complex problems and make decisive tradeoffs.
Ability to prioritize across ambiguous, cross-team priorities without direct management oversight.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

Next.js and NestJS specifically.
Familiarity with Kubernetes and AWS and general DevOps practices.
Web performance optimization experience.
Experience building developer frameworks/tools (contributing to a framework itself, not only using it).
