Senior Software Engineer, Design Tooling

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer for Netflix’s Design Tooling within XD Design Engineering. You’ll build and evolve productivity tools that accelerate the product design lifecycle while maintaining high fidelity and a smooth design/engineering handoff.

Responsibilities

• Own, maintain, and expand workflow applications used by internal teams (including React apps and Figma Plugins)
• Implement AI solutions when appropriate to measurably speed up design workflows
• Lead engineering projects from ideation → implementation → rollout
• Conduct internal user research to inform prioritization and feature development
• Deliver medium-to-large features independently
• Serve as the primary point of contact for support requests for the Design Tooling portfolio
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to maintain integrity and reliability
• Participate in on-call rotation to meet critical SLAs
• Perform design and code reviews
• Gather stakeholder input to help set and evolve the long-term technical strategy

Requirements

• 7+ years professional experience designing, building, and shipping software
• Experience with single-page application (SPA) architecture, patterns, and design
• Experience with data fetching from GraphQL and REST APIs
• Experience with client-side instrumentation and observability
• Proven ability to lead projects and communicate impact to partners
• Strong scoping/project management skills
• Ability to architect, debug, test, and write well-documented code
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js

• Current/former experience building Figma Plugins
• Contributions to open-source projects
