Senior Software Engineer (Data Platform and Agent Trust)

Role Overview

Join Workday’s Datahub team (an AI/MLOps-centered data engineering group) as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll help build and operate a cloud ops platform that ingests, computes, and exposes data for key Workday applications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a cloud ops platform for data ingestion, computation, aggregation, and delivery
• Develop solutions using Kubernetes, Spark, Python, Java and infrastructure tooling (e.g., Terraform)
• Collaborate with teammates to design, maintain, and improve sophisticated object-oriented software
• Build and deliver scalable data service endpoints
• Support production operations including logging, monitoring, metrics, and alerting, plus triage/on-call

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience (Distributed Systems or related)
• Proficiency in at least two: Java, Scala, Python (3+ years)
• 3+ years in cloud engineering (or related)
• Experience with at least one of:
  • Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS Cloud Infrastructure
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and managed services (AWS; also mentions GCP)
• Experience delivering services from code to production with:
  • CI/CD (Jenkins)
  • Virtualization/containers (Docker)
  • Orchestration/infra (Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Testing/quality experience including unit, integration/system, and end-to-end tests, TDD, feature toggles, and canary deployments
• Strong fundamentals: OS concepts, concurrency/threading, networking/sockets, process management
• Understanding of performance, scale, security, availability, deployment, and operations
• Experience owning a production service, including production triage and on-call

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AI-code generation tools (e.g., ClaudeCode, Windsurf, Cursor)
• Experience with monitoring/logging stacks such as Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana
• Experience with technologies like Hive
• Experience with data storage/throughput and distributed processing at scale
