About the role

Role Overview

Join the Data Collection team as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll design and implement mechanisms to collect massive amounts of machine-generated data in real time, building highly concurrent asynchronous systems that power always-on data ingestion.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement real-time data collection mechanisms for heterogeneous systems.
  • Build asynchronous, high-concurrency systems using multithreading and parallel programming.
  • Improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of backend systems processing petabytes of customer data.
  • Profile and reason about performance characteristics of common data structures (e.g., maps, lists, trees).
  • Operate and evolve distributed services in a microservice architecture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience with strong ownership and delivery.
  • Object-oriented experience (e.g., Java, Scala, or C++).
  • Desire to learn Scala (JVM language).
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming and distributed systems.
  • Comfort working with Unix/Linux environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with big data and/or 24x7 commercial services.
  • Experience delivering large, scalable distributed services.
  • Agile experience; test-driven development and iterative/incremental development.

Education

  • BTech / B.S. / M.S. / Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
