About the role

Role Overview

Join the Data Collection team as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll design and implement mechanisms to collect massive amounts of machine-generated data in real time, building highly concurrent asynchronous systems that power always-on data ingestion.

Responsibilities

Design and implement real-time data collection mechanisms for heterogeneous systems.
Build asynchronous, high-concurrency systems using multithreading and parallel programming.
Improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of backend systems processing petabytes of customer data.
Profile and reason about performance characteristics of common data structures (e.g., maps, lists, trees).
Operate and evolve distributed services in a microservice architecture.

Requirements

5+ years of industry experience with strong ownership and delivery.
Object-oriented experience (e.g., Java, Scala, or C++).
Desire to learn Scala (JVM language).
Experience with multi-threaded programming and distributed systems.
Comfort working with Unix/Linux environments.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with big data and/or 24x7 commercial services.
Experience delivering large, scalable distributed services.
Agile experience; test-driven development and iterative/incremental development.

Education

BTech / B.S. / M.S. / Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
