About the role
Role Overview
Join the Data Collection team as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll design and implement mechanisms to collect massive amounts of machine-generated data in real time, building highly concurrent asynchronous systems that power always-on data ingestion.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement real-time data collection mechanisms for heterogeneous systems.
- Build asynchronous, high-concurrency systems using multithreading and parallel programming.
- Improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of backend systems processing petabytes of customer data.
- Profile and reason about performance characteristics of common data structures (e.g., maps, lists, trees).
- Operate and evolve distributed services in a microservice architecture.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience with strong ownership and delivery.
- Object-oriented experience (e.g., Java, Scala, or C++).
- Desire to learn Scala (JVM language).
- Experience with multi-threaded programming and distributed systems.
- Comfort working with Unix/Linux environments.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with big data and/or 24x7 commercial services.
- Experience delivering large, scalable distributed services.
- Agile experience; test-driven development and iterative/incremental development.
Education
- BTech / B.S. / M.S. / Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
