Senior Software Engineer (Customer Platform)

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer on the Customer Platform team. You will build customer-facing backend services and public APIs used across multiple Chainguard products, including notifications, authentication, and the next generation of public APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve customer-facing backend services and public APIs based on how different products and customer segments use shared platform capabilities.
• Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, rollout, and iteration with Product Management and the Experience (front-end) team.
• Write technical design documents and drive design plans with clarity and confidence.
• Contribute to a product-driven roadmap with clear deadlines and outcomes, prioritizing tradeoffs and shipping iteratively.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production services and APIs in a modern cloud environment.
• Proficiency in Go (Golang) or strong ability to ramp quickly (Go is the primary language).
• Experience designing, implementing, and evolving public APIs used externally and internally across multiple products/services (including versioning, backwards compatibility, auth, and usability).
• Familiarity with microservices and cloud-native architectures, including containers and Kubernetes; build observable and resilient services.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across PMs, designers, and engineers.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with a self-directed, “ship it” mindset.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building platform/shared services across multiple products or customer experiences.
• Experience in cloud-native, containers, or security ecosystem; familiarity with CNCF-related tools.
• Meaningful open source contributions, ideally as a maintainer or regular contributor.

Compensation

• Base salary range: $157,000–$184,000 USD
