Senior Software Engineer - Creator Growth and Monetization

Role overview

Senior Software Engineer (Creator Growth and Monetization) at Kit, joining the Network Squad.

You’ll build product features that help creators grow their audience via recommendation products and monetize through Newsletter Sponsorships and Commerce—in a network-effects environment where more creators improve value for everyone.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship creator growth and monetization features end-to-end (from React frontends to Rails backend and analytics).
• Partner with Design and Product to help shape concepts, iterate on rough ideas, and break down ambitious work into MVP/iterative deliverables.
• Contribute to scoping and release planning so value ships throughout development.
• Improve user experience and performance using modern product engineering approaches.
• Be data-driven: use analytics to drive product and engineering improvements.
• Contribute through code reviews and weekly PRs.
• Maintain reliability via participation in on-call rotations.
• Refactor thoughtfully to improve codebase quality.
• Present internally (e.g., Lunch & Learn) and identify improvements to product and development processes.

First milestones

• First week: learn the codebase, set up locally, merge first production change; join GTKYs.
• First month: deliver something meaningful; understand how recommendation, monetization, and systems (Rails/React/ClickHouse) work together.
• First six months: own multiple complex features to launch; ensure reliability via on-call; present at least one Lunch & Learn.

Requirements

• Strong product-minded software engineering skills.
• Hands-on experience across the stack with front-end experience.
• Collaboration with Design/Product throughout the process.
• Data-driven approach to improving performance and user experience.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
