Senior Software Engineer, Core AI Infrastructure

Role Overview

You’ll join a high-performing engineering team at Coinbase working on AI transformation and AI infrastructure within IT Operations (ESTO). The team builds custom products using full-stack engineering and scales the infrastructure that powers Coinbase’s AI products, with close exposure to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of AI products by building production-grade distributed systems across the SDLC, including:
  • Serving infrastructure
  • Data pipelines
  • Deployment orchestration
• Drive platform adoption by designing:
  • Clean APIs and abstractions
  • Developer-facing tooling so product teams can integrate AI capabilities without ad-hoc infrastructure requests
• Partner cross-functionally with Platform and other product groups to:
  • Align on infrastructure requirements
  • Resolve cross-team technical dependencies
  • Define shared platform contracts
• Set engineering standards and culture by:
  • Establishing architectural patterns
  • Mentoring engineers
  • Raising the bar on code quality, observability, and operational excellence
• Build full-stack applications that power internal AI products and infrastructure using Go or Python

Requirements

• 5+ years automating and supporting cloud infrastructure (AWS) and network environments
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt
• Production experience deploying and troubleshooting containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes
• Proficiency in at least one language: Python, Bash, Ruby, or Go
• Experience with Git-based CI/CD pipelines
• Platform-builder mindset: reusable infrastructure, APIs, and abstractions adopted across multiple teams
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly, with human oversight and measurable improvements to workflow efficiency, cost, and quality

Compensation & Location
