Senior Software Engineer (Collaborative Web Platform)

Role overview

Join Pantheon as a Senior Software Engineer for the Collaborative Web Platform. You’ll act as a technical anchor and hands-on builder, owning major parts of the platform end-to-end—from technical design through delivery to production. You’ll work closely with the Staff Engineer and Director of Engineering to drive architecture decisions, quality standards, and team milestones.

Key missions

• Deliver significant platform features and components end-to-end (design → production).
• Build backend services, APIs, and frontend systems powering a real-time collaborative content platform.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, establish quality norms, and help accelerate progress toward meaningful milestones.

Responsibilities

• Own problems from design through delivery, including writing code and tests.
• Mentor and support Software Engineers II.
• Collaborate with product and design.
• Help define the team’s processes and culture.

Requirements

• Strong balance of breadth and depth.
• Ability to own a problem end-to-end and help less experienced engineers do the same.
• Understanding that infrastructure quality and product experience are the same problem from different angles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience).
• Active, concrete experience building with AI (integrating into owned products or creating AI tooling).
• Frontend architecture depth: component modeling, state management, rendering performance.
• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven full-stack shipping: production systems on both backend (APIs/cloud/data services) and frontend (component systems/browser performance/interactive UIs).
• Cloud-native experience designing and operating services in GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Strong API design experience with REST, GraphQL, and webhooks, including practical opinions on when to use each.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with real-time/collaborative systems (live data sync, multiplayer state, event-driven architectures).
