Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Engineering)

Role Overview

Join Mozilla’s Cloud Engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll mature, maintain, and build features for Mozilla’s Internal Developer Infrastructure Platform, focusing on improving the path from code to production safely and cost-effectively.

Key Missions

• Create standardized, scalable systems for:
  • CI/CD
  • Observability
  • Kubernetes optimization
  • Environment bootstrapping
  • Cost optimization
• Support the organization’s infrastructure needs and identify opportunities to improve delivery to production.
• Guide technical decision-making and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain platform features for internal developers.
• Improve production workflows with a focus on safety, scalability, and cost.
• Take a technical leadership role to drive decisions across teams.

Requirements

• Proficient in Python, JavaScript, or Go.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with expertise in at least one of:
  • Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, SRE, or DevOps.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to align technology with user needs and organizational goals.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies (GCP preferred, AWS acceptable).
• Expertise with distributed systems architecture and design.
• Knowledge of cloud security and governance principles.
• Experience designing agentic workflows.
• Experience building Internal Developer Platforms.
• Database expertise.

Nice-to-haves / Additional Skills

• Expertise in several of:
  • ArgoCD, Grafana, Kubernetes, GitHub, Terraform, Helm, Backstage, Cloud cost optimization.
• Curiosity and strong desire to learn; thrives in ambiguity.
