Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Cambium, you will be a key individual contributor leading end-to-end projects across the company’s platform. You’ll write maintainable, secure, performant code and shape architectural decisions in a system spanning a data layer and vertical applications for nodes across the wood supply network.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of major platform features (data infrastructure, internal tools, client-facing interfaces).
• Use AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code) as a core part of your development workflow.
• Help evolve the team’s practices for agentic development.
• Write clean, maintainable, performant code with strong focus on security and reliability.
• Define architecture and technical roadmap alongside leadership and a Staff Engineer.
• Prioritize and resolve technical debt and cross-cutting engineering concerns.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Supply, Sales, and external partners/customers.
• Mentor teammates and strengthen engineering culture through code reviews, design reviews, and postmortems.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of professional software development experience (ideally startup/early-stage).
• Strong backend engineering experience building secure, maintainable, production-ready systems.
• Proven experience shipping production code with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).
• Ability to operate independently with strong ownership and willingness to experiment amid rapid change.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

• Frontend experience with React and modern TypeScript (ability to lead frontend architecture is a plus).
• Familiarity with Cambium’s stack: Python, Postgres, TypeScript, React, AWS.
• Bonus domain knowledge: supply chain/logistics, geospatial data, ERP/CRM, sustainability-focused tech.
