About the role

Role Overview

Buildout is seeking a (Senior) Software Engineer to build and refine CRE marketing tools, shipping backend and frontend features. You’ll work closely with the Product team to deliver high-quality improvements for customers.

Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and improve CRE marketing tools by regularly shipping backend (Rails) and frontend (React) features
Collaborate with customers/product to understand needs and engineer elegant solutions
Iterate and polish work to meet Buildout Quality standards
Work within a milestone-based feature development framework to scope and plan projects for parallel execution
Partner with Product Managers and UX Designers to align on requirements and ensure a great user experience
Maintain quality through thorough, timely code reviews, pairing on difficult issues, and delivering on time
Set and achieve personal/professional goals sponsored by Buildout, aligned with your team lead

Requirements

Multiple years of product software development experience in a SaaS environment (or demonstrated ability to learn quickly and perform at a similar level)
Ability to use AI as a force multiplier across the software development lifecycle
Strong communication across engineering, product, and design; enjoy collaborative problem-solving

Technical Requirements / Skills

Ruby on Rails: deep knowledge of Rails and comfort with a standard Rails-based app plus design/business logic/background jobs
JavaScript/React: strong JavaScript foundation; React for new front-end work (modernizing a legacy JS codebase)
Testing: testing as a natural part of your process
- Experience with RSpec and Jest, and awareness of Playwright end-to-end testing
Web tech familiarity: Git, Slim templates, Bootstrap-based styling, MySQL, AWS

Nice to Have / Emphasis

Interest in and passion for learning new technologies
AI-native development mindset using Claude Code and agent-assisted workflows (embedded across implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation)
