Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Remote)

You’ll design, develop, test, and deploy reliable, maintainable software that helps improve compliance outcomes in Medicare/Medicaid/commercial healthcare. The role spans full-stack work with a strong focus on cloud-native systems, collaboration, and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design & Development: Build scalable features/services across the Beacon product platform; write clean, well-documented, thoroughly tested code.
• Architecture & Technical Decisions: Contribute to design discussions and architecture reviews; balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability.
• Code Quality: Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Collaboration & Agile Delivery: Work with product managers, designers, QA, and DevOps; participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog grooming).
• Cloud Readiness & Deployment: Collaborate with DevOps/platform teams to ensure services are cloud-ready and observable via CI/CD.
• Quality & Reliability: Build and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; troubleshoot production issues, performance bottlenecks, and defects.
• Observability: Monitor application health and proactively address reliability risks.
• Mentorship: Mentor junior/mid-level engineers with technical guidance and career development support.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong portfolio of production systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages: Java, Python, C#, Go, or Node.js.
• Cloud-native experience deploying to AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps tooling.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

• Frontend experience with React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Staying current with emerging technologies and bringing new ideas through learning/experimentation.
