Senior Software Engineer - Backend (USA Only - 100% Remote)

Role: Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Build and evolve Close’s backend systems that power its AI-driven CRM and real-time communication features.

Responsibilities

• Work on one of Close’s backend teams, with the possibility of moving between teams as business needs change.
• Build and maintain backend services and integrations that support:
  • Agents: the shared intelligence/orchestration layer for AI-driven processes and external agent interoperability.
  • Communications: voice/SMS/email infrastructure and real-time conversational AI across calls and messaging.
  • CRM: the structured context layer and AI-native CRM features (retrieval, traversal, actions via MCP/public API).
  • Growth: hypothesis-driven experimentation and billing/activation infrastructure (e.g., Stripe metered billing, AI credit top-ups, onboarding).

What you’ll work with

• Python Flask backend services and asynchronous job processing via TaskTiger
• Data and search stores: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis
• AWS infrastructure: EKS, MSK, RDS, ElastiCache, and EC2
• CI/CD with Docker and automated tests; deployments to Kubernetes
• Infrastructure automation: Terraform, Ansible
• Public API and integrations

Requirements

• Seasoned engineer with strong backend experience
• Strong proficiency in Python

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with other languages such as Go, Rust, or TypeScript
• Experience building AI/agent infrastructure and/or real-time communication systems
